01.  STATE OF EMERGENCY

Nigeria's power consumption per capita has been adjudged to be the lowest in Africa. As at March 2015, electricity supply from the national grid stood at 2,306MW, far below the estimated demand of 12,800MW. This implies that Nigeria is only generating about 20 per cent of the country’s needs.

South Africa generates about 44,559MW of electricity for a  population of 55m people. Ghana produces 2,203MW for 27m people. Egypt produces 29,452MW for 88m people. UK produces 93,784MW for 65m people. Nigeria generates up to 4,023MW for 182m people.

03.  BRIDGING THE GAP

There is an extreme electricity deficiency in Nigeria. Green energy also known as renewable energy is the source  for sustainable energy development. Long-term investments in renewable energies like solar and wind have the potential to contribute significantly to the electricity deficiency.
